Help 4 U are a property
maintenance and improvement company based in Cornwall. They "provide excellent, polite and
professional service in all aspects of property services, development and
improvements"
and wanted
a website that was both modern and inviting, but that didn't look like a
standard home maintenance page.
So I made a site which had more of a lifestyle feel and emphasised the approachibility of the company, to encourage people who are intimidated by this kind of world.
The site was made in collaboration with another local company who took care of the content management side of things, the logo was Help 4 U's own and I took care of the rest of the site design.
The site is coded to web standards using bespoke CSS layouts.
Urban Fresh Fruit are based in Derbyshire who make dried fruit snacks, that are really, really good for you. They taste wonderful too. The mango is particularly grand and I thoroughly recommend you seek their food out.
The guys over at Urban Fresh Fruit wanted a website that combined the healthy message with the wonderful illustrations that the mighty Hennie Haworth has done for them and also to make the site fun. Dried fruit has a rather staid reputation that they want to dispel. I've done my best to do that for them.
I'm working for these guys on an indefinite basis, updating the site, improving its search engine positioning and occasionally contributing to their 'Not a Blog'. I've managed up to now to not just fill it with book and music reccomendations, but it is only a matter of time....
It has been made to W3C web standards using bespoke CSS layouts and has
a rather awesome content management system which enables the company to update parts of the site themselves.
I must admit that I am rather proud of this site...
It is not everyday that I'm asked to make a website that will be specifically directed to the Brazilian market but so it went with Urbindimo, a clothes store based in Brazil and the US.
They wanted an ecommerce store that reflected their products and company ethos. So I've made a site which has a quirky but stylish quality. And some cool colours too, I'm rather known for my liking of the colour pink, much to my lady's concern, and I got to mix that with some subtle greens.
The site has an admin area which is easy to maintain and add product too, giving Urbindimo the chance to run a full shop with the possibility of gift vouchers, offers, sales, everything that a store could need.
Making this site highlighted for me personally all the things I love about the internet. Communication was awesome between Urbindimo and myself, despite being so far apart and never actually meeting and we created a site that both myself and, most importantly, they are very happy with.
Bonbi Forest are an up and coming fashion studio, what started out as a personal passion of designer Lee May Foster has expanded in to a personal passion that is liked by a lot of people.
So as a result we have improved the website in to what is now known as The Bonbi Forest Indie Emporium which not only stocks Bonbi Forest's products but also other designers wares.
The store is easy to use for both the client and the administrators and has a look which encompasses all that Lee May is working towards. Independent, handmade, experimental and great to look at.
The site is designed using CSS layouts, is optimzed for search engines and has a back-end that runs using PHP and MySql.
Nick Fraser is a Westcountry based designer who:
"Designs and manufactures quality furniture, interior products and lighting. The essential elements of his designs are functionality and simplicity, combined with humour, variation and surprise. By manipulating recognisable shapes, forms and objects, his designs play with the familiar to create exciting products with new functions."
We worked together to create a sleek, modern, easy to use website that made his work the focal point.
It has been made to W3C web standards using bespoke CSS layouts and has been coded for easy updates by the client.

Bat For Lashes is getting recognition: a Mercury nomination, celebrity endorsements and critical plaudits.
But let's not forget that she makes beautiful records and we wanted to make a website that fully encompassed all the elements of her artistic output. So Natasha took a trip down to the country and we worked on the fundamentals of what is now the Bat For Lashes website. The artwork and concept comes courtesy of Natasha and all the other stuff I sorted out. The site has different styles in different sections and was made to have a rich, detailed, treasure trove feel with little touches here and there that you might miss on your first visit.
I'm very proud of it.

Hennie Haworth is a London based illustrator who makes drawings that are truly exceptional, hers is the sort of stuff that you've seen everywhere and really liked it and always wondered who made it. Well, she's called Hennie.
I helped her to make a website she felt best reflected her work and that was steeped in her drawing style.
The site includes Flash galleries to display her work and was made to web
standards and is search engine optimised.
It is also predominately yellow,
which I really like.

Louise Cooper is a local novelist, her most famous work is the Time Master Trilogy.
These most well-known novels are based in the Fantasy genre, but Louise also writes very successful childrens and young adult novels. Subsequently she requested that her site had more of a dark, sinister edge (an atmosphere all her work shares) but wasn't overtly fantasy oriented. So, inspired by some of Louise's own photography and her writing, I made this site.
The site also contains a journal and messageboard which are both based on PHP/MySql database server-side coding and make her site interactive for her many readers. The site is designed using valid CSS, search engine optimised coding.

Bonbi Forest make beautiful, handmade, individual jewellery and printed t-shirts.
All of the company's designs are based on the illustrations of Bonbi
Forest creator Lee May Foster.
The website needed to reflect the colourful exuberance of Bonbi Forest's products so we created a site which has a hand-drawn feel that combines accessibility with Lee May's drawings.
The site is both a portfolio for the company and also a fully working e-commerce store.
The site has been created using a custom made CSS-layout and with validated coding.

This site is still very much a work in progress, as sections are added all the time.
The site is primarily a resource for performers and advertisers to have versions of popular songs made to their particular requirements.
The site will soon have a comprehensive database with audio samples and track information, but currently is in it's beta phase.

Falmouth Shout are a group of Cornish Shanty Singers. Frankly I was surprised as you'd think to be contacted by them in terms of creating a site to publisise their group, but it was great to make.
The brief was to make a site that was informative, embraced the ideas and history of what shanty singing is all about and was fun. They have a guy who dresses as a parrot for their shows so I had no concerns that they were frowning traditionalists...
But take a look, a group of good, good people who sing for enjoyment and raise money for the RNLI in the process.
As always the site was made using CSS, search engine optimised and follows web standards.

Meecham Klein Bespoke is a Brighton-based knitwear company who create hand-made one-off garments. All their products are individually tailored and made in-house.
They wanted their site to reflect the colouration and modernity of their product but yet referencing the warmth and texture of the material they are made of and the classic quality that wool itself suggests.
The site was created using a custom made CSS-layout and was designed to web standards to make it as fast and as search engine friendly as possible.
I am Magpie is a club night that until recently ran in Brighton.
The site was created using validated coding and a custom made CSS-layout.
I am Magpie has recently ceased its run, which is great shame.
Despite this I've agreed to keep the site live, mainly due to the large amount of people who find themselves on there accidentally when researching about magpies...

This was the original website for Bat For Lashes. Natasha Khan, the woman behind the band, wanted an intimate, yet simple site that almost felt like a page torn from her journal.
I have worked closely with her since the early days of the band to create a site which reflects the band's personality but is still informative and easily accessible.
The site has been created to web-standards with a custom made CSS-layout that makes it fast and search engine friendly.
